Type in context - summer images

Summer Images

Over the summer holiday, I took a few weeks to take a break with my family down south to Dorset. The area we stayed in wasn't too far from the sea and we where right next to a small market town called Blanford Fourm. As this area was near the seaside, the typography found around there was a mix of chiseled typefaces into stone as guidance for walks and for sites of importance, to very tourist oriented use of type.

 - within the small town of Blanford Fourm, they had a bunch of engraved slabs of pavements with a mixture of messages. This one was playing on the use of words.
- Due to the chiselled nature of these uses of type, they stand out to the common passer by and catches their eye. Another factor that makes it stand out is it being on the floor. as more and more people are looking down at there phone as they walk, these pavement messages catch their attention as its in their peripheral.
 - Closer to the beaches, there was a lot of signs
made from local stone used to direct people and to relay info about the area.
- Because the text was engraved into the rock, it gave the message a sense of importance and got peoples attention as they walked past. It being painted black also added to its presence
