Studio brief 1 leeds international medeival congress existing graphic design

After looking at the final options to go with, i decided to follow through with the medieval congress for this project as it, for me, held much more of varied outcomes than that of the pack horse. With that sorted, i began to look into the event and more  so the graphic design behind it.

Image of St Martin, used as the International medieval congress logo since 1994, from University of Leeds, Brotherton Library, Brotherton Collection MS 2. the image itself is used on everything and is accompanied by a red background and bold white text. the brand itself is quite masculine in terms of colour and text which can have a negative conatation to the event.

Strengths:

- Brings in 20,000+ people each year to the event
- everyone there has a great mentality to people new and old to the event
- has medieval reenactments

Weaknesses:

- not many people from outside of the medieval institute know about it
- Has negative stereotypes towards the people at the event such as, nerds, just for men ect
