OUGD503 Studio brief 2 - Mubi

Group meeting

The fifth meeting was a quick one, we just talked about what we needed in terms of loaning out the photography equipment from Uni, and where we could actually do the shoot as well.

After debating different sites we settled on shooting at my house as it had everything we needed so it made sense to go there. I put myself forward to be in charge of loaning out the equipment we all needed and we agreed on a date and time to meet up at uni and go from there.

We need to now go and buy some props for the shoot, dog leads, bubble bath, cake mix etc. So me and matt have split up the items and hopefully should have for the shoot.

Unfortunately, Isaac ate some dodgey fish cakes and now hes suffering from food poisoning so for the time being it will just be me and matt working on the brief. while hes bed bound he has said he'll cover sorting out the advert, the basic concept is to splice together several movie clips ( in a way that will create a narrative running through the advertisement, complimented by written text that explains the actual site. For example, we'll have some information about pricing per month, and as if in response, a clip of Han Solo celebrating in the Millennium Falcon. This humour is the backbone of our approach to this whole thing, as we as a group feel that MUBI kind of takes itself too seriously as a service even though it says it dosn't, like it's in some way too 'arty' for people who aren't massive film buffs, which would alienate that whole audience. We want to appeal to that missed audience with a bit of self referential humour.
